Mr. Chucks was my old work buddy

Few years ago, I had my own work buddy which was always dependable im my everyday challenges in the workplace. Even though I already came from various companies, my “companion” was still always there to back me up. Take note, it’s not a person. No one else but my low-cut Mr. Chucks shoes. During my high school days, that particular design of a known shoe brand was my dream machine to my demanding feet to buy for my Christmas present. Aside from the fact that it was one of the distinct fashion statements of my favorite 90s local band The Eraserheads, I also love to have those shows because it is light and durable to my very active feet. The rocky and uphill-like landscape of my secondary school was no match to this lean and mean thing. I jus had to leave Mr. Chucks for college coz the students required to wear leather shoes. Fast forward after my graduation, I got a job from a company which I assigned to be one of the people in the stock room. I already had positive vibes before my first day on the job coz we have to wear rubber shows. Of course, Mr. Chucks was the one that came into my memory as I was in the shoe brand’s boutique. I chose the one with the color black on its body so that I only need less time for maintenance. As the story goes, it just surpassed on my every obstacle or unexpected things that might happen in my work load. Expect the dirt in the some parts of the stock room but Mr. Chucks didn’t surrender to them. Overall, I’m very pleased to my work buddy. Our duo continued once again to operate as I was hired by another company. Same and familar scenario, same results but as the time progresses, Mr. Chucks was also like a human - going to its aging process. Some cracks and cuts we’re already marked to its body. In a positive note, those were the signs that I’m really focused on the job. It was the day of typhoon Milenyo when my companion had to retire. I was in the workplace when the management announced that we will be in a half-day operation due to the worsening weather condition. I was in my jacket with my valuables heavily covered in plastic as I ran to a firendly dump truck coz the public vehicles were virtually unavailable. There’s also a part that I had to walk in a half-knee deep of flood water - a moment that Mr. Chucks delivered its last service as I arrived home safe. It was a good memory with my past pair shows as my new buddy still continues to meet my expectations but as long as there’s another clone of Mr. Chucks in the shoe store, I’m gonna buy it and I will be very pleased to its service once again.
